New York-based photographer Bobby Lee Adams fuses together old childhood photos with current ones to create a series of surreal images titled ‘Age-Maps’—without using Photoshop.

Adam makes his subjects wear the same kind of clothes as in their old photos and then tears each photo in half before juxtaposing them side-by-side.

According to Adam, he employs a technique he calls “photo surgery” whereby picture are altered through “manual excision, collage and sometimes defacing of the subject”.

For this series, Adam wanted to “telescope the slow process of aging into a single picture”.
